Rough Night
Last night was a toughy. Riley woke up at 1:30am with a fever of 103.3 degrees. The babies had their 6 mo. immunizations and it hit Ri hard last night. She was fine after the intial pain of the injection they both cried their saddest cry (breaks my heart) but were absolutely fine until this. I called the nurse at 2am to see what she thought. Riley was coughing almost as if she was having trouble breathing. The nurse said that it is normal to have more labored breathing the higher your temp. rises. Still it was scary. Makenna had a seizure when she was just over a year old from a high temp. I didn't want this to happen to my little Ri. I gave her baby Tylenol and said a prayer. The nurse told me that the Tylenol should kick in and her temp should go down between 1-3 degrees. If this happens all would probably be fine, if not I should get her into her pediatrician first thing in the morning. Sure enough the temp subsided and we were back to bed around 4am.
And then morning came....
Makenna woke up apparently in the middle of the night when Josh was home on a lunch break complaining of a sore throat. He told me that he thought she probably had strep again. This would be her second case this season. Not fun. I set up an appt. and daddy took her this morning ... it was strep. Back on antibiotics for 5 days. The last time she had strep she had a reaction to the amoxicillin and is no longer able to take that. But God is good and we are on the mend. Riley did great all day today and Makenna was feeling better this evening.
